Overview

The 2014 Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz is a classic Heathcote Shiraz from one of Victoria's most respected family estates. Established in 1975 by Ron and Elva Laughton, Jasper Hill is renowned for dry-grown, low-yielding vineyards planted on ancient Cambrian soils.

Georgia's Paddock is one of the estate's defining wines, known for its depth, spice, natural acidity and long-lived structure.

Vintage & Winemaking

The original block of Georgia's Paddock Shiraz was planted in 1975, with additional vines planted in 1987. Ten hectares of low-yielding Shiraz make this Jasper Hill's largest production. The fruit was fully destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts and kept on skins for 5-6 weeks before gentle pressing and 12 months' maturation in French oak.

At release, Jasper Hill described the 2014 as a deep crimson wine with intense red berry and mixed spice aromas, balanced by powerful yet supple tannins and vibrant natural acidity.

Cellaring Potential

This wine is drinking well now and has the structure to continue developing. Suggested drinking windows vary by critic, with references extending from 2032 to 2044 depending on bottle condition and storage.
