The 2012 Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin is one of the great icon wines of the Rhône Valley, produced only in exceptional vintages and in very limited quantities. Crafted by Château de Beaucastel, this grand cuvée is a tribute to Jacques Perrin and represents the pinnacle of Beaucastel’s winemaking philosophy, blending power, complexity, and remarkable longevity.
The wine is dominated by Mourvèdre, sourced from Beaucastel’s oldest vines planted on the famed galets roulés soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with smaller proportions of Grenache, Syrah, Counoise, and Vaccarèse completing the blend. The 2012 vintage offered a balanced growing season, combining warm conditions with sufficient freshness, allowing full phenolic ripeness while preserving structure and finesse—an ideal framework for this monumental cuvée.
Vinification is carried out with meticulous attention to detail, with each variety fermented separately using traditional methods. Extended maceration builds depth and structure, while maturation takes place in a combination of large oak foudres and barrels over an extended period, allowing the wine to evolve slowly and harmoniously without overt oak influence.
