Overview
The 2010 Opus One is a highly collectible Napa Valley red from one of California's most prestigious estates. Created from the shared vision of Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One is dedicated to producing a single wine of uncompromising quality from estate vineyards in Oakville.
Vintage & Winemaking
The 2010 vintage was a uniquely demanding year in Napa Valley, marked by unseasonably cold days, untimely rainfall and late-season heat. Careful canopy management helped protect the fruit and secure the success of the vintage.
The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The estate vineyards include four parcels in Oakville, with two parcels located within the renowned To Kalon Vineyard, complemented by the Ballestra and River parcels surrounding the winery. Harvest ran from 23 September to 23 October. The wine saw 19 days of skin contact and was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
