Crafted by visionary winemaker Roman Bratasiuk, Astralis is sourced from a remarkable old-vine, single vineyard discovered in 1990. Over more than three decades, Astralis has established an international reputation as one of Australia's greatest Shiraz wines, earning a place in Langton's prestigious Exceptional classification alongside Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace.

The outstanding 2010 growing season delivered warm days, cool nights and even ripening, producing a wine of remarkable depth and balance.

The bouquet is intensely complex, revealing blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and mocha alongside black truffle, dried meat, black tea, earthy minerals and subtle herbal notes. With air, additional layers of leather, sweet spice, chamomile and dark chocolate emerge.

The palate is powerful yet beautifully composed, with concentrated blackberry, blueberry and dark plum supported by fine, supple tannins and impressive freshness. Rich notes of cocoa, espresso, dark chocolate and savoury French oak contribute to an exceptionally layered texture and a long, persistent finish.

Hand-harvested and wild-yeast fermented in open stainless steel fermenters, the wine was matured for 18 months in new French oak Burgundy-style barrels. This careful approach enhances its depth and structure while preserving the distinctive expression of the Astralis vineyard.

Now developing beautifully with bottle age, the 2010 Astralis offers the potential for further complexity, with evolving notes of cedar, panforte, spice, leather and earthy savouriness. A landmark Australian Shiraz for serious collectors and enthusiasts of mature, world-class wines.
