95/100 — Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
(2006 Vintage, Tasted: Aug 2016)
“Elegance, freshness and layers of sweet, silky textured cherries, black raspberries and wild strawberries are all over the place. The wine offers more elegance, freshness and restraint than power. This should be a bit better with a few more years of age.”
96/100 — Adrian van Velsen – vvWine.ch

94/100 — Doctorwine
(2006 Vintage, Tasted: Sep 2014)
“This vintage is a little more intense but is also younger and, all things considered, quite similar to, mutatis mutandis, the 2004, being the product of an equally positive harvest. It has a bright and lively ruby-garnet color and here, too, the spicy aromas merge with distinct, well-expressed and fine fruity notes. The mouthfeel is full-bodied and nicely held up by the acidity and it is made even more pleasing by very fine, sweet extracts. The finish is persistent and quite warm.”

About This Wine
The red wine is made solely from Grenache. The vineyard faces north and contains no galets roulés. Wines are matured in larger-format 450-liter barrels. A small ten-hectare vineyard planted in very poor, sandy soil produces wines with great finesse.
About the Winery
Château Rayas is one of the most prestigious estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has been in the Reynaud family since the 1880s. Owner Emmanuel Reynaud also makes Château de Fonsalette and Pialade Côtes du Rhône wines at the Rayas winery. Château des Tours in Vacqueyras is a separate estate under the same ownership.
