Gold – The Global Sparkling Masters 2 (2009 Vintage)
98 / 100 – Halliday Wine Companion (2009 Vintage)
“Pale straw with an energetic bead and mousse. Expressive green apple, lemon, grapefruit and white peach with soft spice, fresh brioche, clotted cream, sea spray, crushed riverstone, shiitake broth, crushed oyster shell and freshly baked pastries. The aromas transpose neatly to the palate with impeccable balance and harmony. A high-tensile, minerally cadence drives things along, finishing dry, pure and layered in spice and autolytic complexity.”
About This Wine
This Late Disgorged release comprises select parcels from Tasmania’s cool-climate regions, including Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley and the East Coast. Extended tirage contributes depth and complexity, with aromas of honey, pastry, exotic spice and oyster shell. The palate is rich and seamless, showing malted barley, field mushroom, sourdough and lemon curd alongside intense minerality, umami notes and natural acidity. Low dosage enhances the wine’s tension and balance.
