About This Wine

Planted in the 1950s, 1970s and 1990s, this 2.5-hectare site sits on Kimmeridgian marly limestone and blue clay with a west-facing aspect. The wine is described as energetic and mineral-rich.

About the Winery

Domaine François Raveneau is a noted Chablis producer recognised for some of the region’s most sought-after Chardonnay. Established in 1948 through the merging of two family vineyard holdings, it was the first in the family to bottle estate-grown wines.
Today the domaine farms around eight hectares across three grand cru and six premier cru sites, including Montée de Tonnerre. Most parcels lie on southwest-facing slopes planted on Kimmeridgian clay and limestone, with vine age averaging around 30 years and reaching around 50 years in Montée de Tonnerre.
All grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Wines age for extended periods, typically at least 12 months, with only a small portion of new oak. Bottling is carried out with fining and only occasional filtration.
