Overview
The 2006 Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet Franc 750ml is a mature single-vineyard wine from Jasper Hill in Heathcote, Victoria. Predominantly Shiraz with approximately 5% Cabernet Franc, it combines concentrated fruit with the distinctive perfume, mineral character and firm tannin structure associated with Emily's Paddock.
Described by Jasper Hill as a classic vintage at release, the 2006 offers an elegant yet powerful expression of the vineyard. Its layered red and dark fruit, complex spice, fine tannins and savoury oak development have allowed it to mature with notable depth and persistence.
Vintage & Winemaking
The 2006 Emily's Paddock was produced as a field blend containing approximately 5% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Franc adds aromatic and structural complexity while Shiraz remains the dominant component of the wine.
At release, the wine showed considerable intensity, mineral character and perfume, accompanied by complex spice and a creamy touch from new French oak. Jasper Hill highlighted its balance, elegance and strong cellaring capacity, while later retrospective tastings recorded a concentrated palate, persistent tannins and developed mocha and espresso-oak complexity.
