Overview

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château Monopole is a rare mature Burgundy from one of Vosne-Romanée's most coveted domaines. Clos du Château is a monopole of the domaine, offering a direct connection to the historic Château de Vosne-Romanée and the Liger-Belair family's long presence in the village.

Although Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair was formally re-established in 2000 by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, the family has owned vineyards in Vosne-Romanée since 1815. The domaine is now regarded as one of Burgundy's most sought-after producers, with elegant, finely structured Pinot Noir made in very limited quantities.

Viticulture & Winemaking

The domaine has practiced biodynamic viticulture across its vineyards since 2008 and is certified by Ecocert under the Biodyvin label. Grapes are harvested in small 14kg perforated crates to avoid crushing, sorted carefully on arrival, then destemmed fully or partially depending on the cuvée and vintage.

Fermentation begins naturally with indigenous yeasts after a cool pre-fermentation phase. The wines are aged in new barrels from multiple forests and cooperages, with malolactic fermentation occurring naturally. Bottling is carried out without fining or filtration.
