About This Wine

A much warmer year than 2004, this release is a big, brooding monster of a Shiraz with perfectly integrated fruit, oak, tannin and acid. Still a baby at 8 years of age, the palate weight of the 2005 is something to behold. As well balanced as the 2004 with more muscle and an incredible mouth feel, it’s like a steak in a glass.

Hand picked and hand pruned from old vines, the wine was open fermented, basket pressed and matured on lees in new French oak. It spent four years in barrel and four years in bottle: eight years in the making.

About the Producer

The Rusden Vineyard is nestled on the deep Vine Vale sand in the foothills below the eastern Barossa Ranges, in an area once known as Bethany Sandscrub.

Rusden's old vines are traditionally cared for and hand tended, with a minimalist approach to winemaking aimed at an honest representation of the variety.
