About This Wine
Château Latour's Grand Vin is produced exclusively from vieilles vignes with an average vine age of approximately 60 years, located within the historic Enclos vineyard.
Gravettes, Sarmentier and Pièce de Château are among the estate's finest plots and contribute to the identity and character of the wine each year.
The heart of the Enclos is the only terroir capable of consistently delivering the depth, elegance and concentration expected of Château Latour's Grand Vin. Cabernet Sauvignon, representing more than 90% of the blend, achieves exceptional expression of colour, richness and freshness on this site.
The 1993 growing season began with a dry, mild winter and early budbreak. Warm conditions in spring accelerated vine growth before heavy rainfall increased disease pressure, requiring rigorous vineyard management throughout the season.
Harvest took place from 23 September to 9 October. Extensive fruit selection was required to remove grapes affected by grey rot, while careful vinification ensured the highest possible quality from a challenging vintage.
