Nestled amidst the sun-drenched vineyards of Pauillac, Château Lafite Rothschild stands as a legend in the realm of fine wine. Its iconic label and meticulously crafted Bordeaux offer a tapestry of elegance, finesse, and harmony, a stark contrast to the bolder styles of some other First Growths.
In the glass, the Lafite Rothschild boasts a deep purple hue, hinting at the complexity within. On the nose, a symphony of well-defined aromas unfolds, weaving notes of spice, wood, and ripe dark fruit. On the palate, the wine's elegance truly shines. Fine tannins provide a subtle structure, while a balanced interplay of fruit and oak creates a harmonious experience.
Critical Acclaim:
Critic tasting note: (1986 vintage) "As good, or better than any bottle of 86 Lafite I have ever tasted, time has been kind to this wine. The nose sports a complex array of spices, dried tobacco leaves cedar, leather, and bright red berries. The palate is energetic, firm, and most importantly, regal in character, with loads of ripe, bright, chewy, currants and cassis in the mid-palate and finish. This could be a 100-year wine. Drink from 2024-2080."

Vintage Notes:
At the dawn of the 1986 harvests, after half a decade of success, the winemakers and wine enthusiasts were sceptical of yet another fine vintage. Yet a fine vintage it was: excellent spring weather followed by a dry summer with occasional light rain, led to a very abundant, high-quality yield. The wines are almost black in colour, very concentrated without being heavy, with distinguished, dominant tannins.
