Overview
The 2024 Pierro Chardonnay continues the legacy of one of Margaret River’s most acclaimed white wines — a benchmark for depth, balance, and refinement. Combining old-vine fruit, meticulous vineyard care, and restrained oak handling, this vintage captures Pierro’s hallmark richness and purity in perfect harmony.
Vineyard and Winemaking
Fruit is sourced from Pierro’s estate vineyards in Wilyabrup, where gravelly loam soils and cooling maritime breezes create ideal conditions for Chardonnay. Hand-harvested grapes were gently pressed and fermented in French oak barriques (approximately 50% new) with wild yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation and extended lees stirring added complexity, texture, and length. The wine matured for 12 months before blending and bottling, ensuring precision and integration.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant pale gold in colour, with aromas of white peach, grapefruit, and roasted cashew layered with subtle notes of flint and brioche. The palate is finely structured and concentrated, revealing citrus and stone fruit depth balanced by creamy texture and mineral tension. The finish is long, pure, and perfectly poised.
Style and Character
The 2024 vintage exemplifies Pierro’s signature style — opulent yet refined, complex yet effortlessly balanced. It is a Chardonnay of both power and restraint, expressing the elegance of Margaret River through meticulous craftsmanship.
Cellaring and Pairing
Superb now for its vitality and texture but will develop beautifully over the next 8–12 years. Ideal with butter-poached lobster, roast chicken, or creamy seafood risotto, complementing its richness and finesse.
