Overview
Penfolds Bin 707 is one of Australia's most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignons, renowned for its extraordinary concentration, structural precision and exceptional ageing potential. First produced in 1964, Bin 707 embodies the Penfolds House Style through multi-vineyard, multi-region fruit selection, completion of fermentation in new oak and maturation in 100% new American oak.
The 2024 vintage combines Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, Barossa Valley and Padthaway, delivering intensely concentrated black fruits, refined tannins and impressive depth. Awarded multiple 98-point scores, this powerful yet beautifully balanced release is built for decades of cellaring.
Vintage
The 2024 growing season produced focused, structured Cabernet Sauvignon across the three regions. Below-average winter rainfall and a warm, dry ripening period contributed to smaller berries and concentrated fruit. Cooler nights and favourable autumn conditions preserved freshness, savoury complexity and firm tannin structure.
Winemaking
Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from selected vineyards across Coonawarra, Barossa Valley and Padthaway. Following fermentation, the wine was matured for 16 months in American oak hogsheads (100% new), developing the powerful fruit expression, integrated oak complexity and distinctive structure associated with Bin 707.
Producer Tasting Notes
Colour
Impenetrable. Dark core. Luminous sheen.
Nose
Expressive. Very Cabernet! An oscillation between blue and black fruits – from blueberry and mariposa plum to blackcurrant/cassis/aniseed and Star Anise. And yet so much more – black olive, rhubarb and a bevy of savoury/fleshy notes.
Palate
Impressive presence and density yet retaining finesse and shape. Poise/power are abetted by a mass of tannin – fine and pixelated, never dominating.
