Overview
An estate-grown Premier Cru Chardonnay from Clos Saint-Marc, a 1.71-hectare vineyard within the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru climat Les Vergers. The 2024 release combines the siteâs stony, limestone-rich character with the freshness and radiance that emerged from this challenging Burgundy vintage.
Vintage
2024 was marked by record rainfall and persistent humidity, placing significant disease pressure on Burgundyâs vineyards and reducing yields. More freely draining terroirs were better able to resist the difficult conditions. Despite the demanding season, the resulting wines showed impressive freshness, brightness and energy.
Vineyard
Clos Saint-Marc forms part of the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Vergers. This estate vineyard has a north-east exposure and lies directly on the rock of Chassagne-Montrachet, with red, stony, clay-limestone soils particularly suited to Chardonnay. The vineyard was planted in 1996 and sits at 230â250 metres altitude.
The site is farmed to HVE Level 3 standards and all fruit is harvested by hand.
Winemaking
Made from 100% Chardonnay and vinified as whole grapes. Following 24 hours of static settling, alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels. The wine is matured for 18 months, including six months in stainless steel tank, with 25% new oak.
Producer Tasting Notes
This wine witnesses the elegance of this vintage. The aromas are sharp and punchy with a delicate mix between citrus and fresh almonds. Intense and explosive with a lovely freshness.
