The 2024 Mt Difficulty Roaring Meg Pinot Noir is a vibrant and approachable expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir, produced by Mt Difficulty Wines. Designed to showcase the generous fruit, freshness and distinctive character of the region, Roaring Meg offers an excellent introduction to the Mt Difficulty style.

Named after the Roaring Meg stream, which runs through the rugged Kawarau Gorge, the range reflects the dramatic landscape and energetic personality of Central Otago. Pinot Noir thrives in the region's dry continental climate, long sunshine hours and cool nights, conditions that encourage excellent flavour development while retaining natural acidity and freshness.

The 2024 Roaring Meg Pinot Noir is immediately expressive, with aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, strawberry and plum, complemented by delicate floral notes, dried herbs and gentle spice.

The palate is juicy and supple, delivering generous red and dark berry fruit supported by fresh acidity and soft, finely textured tannins. Subtle savoury notes and spice provide additional complexity without compromising the wine's bright, fruit-driven character. The finish is smooth, fresh and inviting.

Compared with the Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Noir, Roaring Meg is crafted for greater accessibility and earlier enjoyment. Its emphasis on vibrant fruit and supple texture makes it an excellent everyday Central Otago Pinot Noir, while still retaining the regional character for which Mt Difficulty is known.
