Awards, Ratings & Reviews

95/100 — Aaron Brasher, The Real Review · 2024 Vintage · Published: 30 Jun 2025 · Drinking Window: 2025–2032
“Bright, lively, mid-straw in the glass. Lifted aromas of grapefruit pith, white flowers, wet stone, just-ripe white stone fruit and nougat. Pithy, focused, crunchy and layered. There's real snap and texture to the fruit, with plenty of drive, cut and presence. Long, and layered, with nutty oak working seamlessly with the precise fruit.”

95/100 — The Wine Front · 2024 Vintage · Tasted: Jun 2025

“Precise and steely aromas of lemon pith, flint, apple blossoms and sourdough bread. The palate is tightly wound, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel, bright acidity and high tension that is built to soften with time in the bottle. Nicely constructed with a nervy edge. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”

— James Suckling · 2024 Vintage · Tasted: Mar 2025

About This Wine

The Kooyong vineyard is located on the Mornington Peninsula at Tuerong, on Miocene sedimentary soils. Wines are made from domain grown, handpicked grapes and aim to manifest terroir through the integration of geology, soils, mesoclimates and seasonal conditions.

Kooyong Estate Chardonnay comprises fruit from the Faultline and Farrago blocks, blended with parcels from various soils and mesoclimates to create the Estate label, with consistency across vintages. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

The grapes were hand harvested and whole-bunch pressed, then fermented in a mix of French oak barriques and puncheons (20% new) with spontaneous fermentation from ambient yeasts. The wine was aged on lees for 11 months and bottled without fining with minimal filtration. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Producer Notes

Bright and fresh aromas lead, with fruit notes of grapefruit and lime citrus that verge to white stone fruit flesh, complemented by notes of citrus blossom and lemon curd. Its complexity is enhanced by subtle notes of roasted cashews, creamy nougat, and flecks of flint. A detailed and fine palate with intricately woven flavours of citrus and stone fruit, carried effortlessly by a bright line of acid. Nuanced phenolics provide tension, while a creamy mid-palate texture derived from careful lees ageing adds complexity and overall balance. The wine ends with a crisp and invigorating finish.
