Named after celebrated Irish composer Seán Ó Riada, this wine showcases the distinctive cool-climate character that has made Clonakilla one of Australia’s benchmark Shiraz producers. Fruit is sourced from estate and select regional vineyards in the Canberra District, where warm days and cool evenings allow for slow ripening and excellent flavour definition.
The 2024 vintage delivered fruit with vibrant aromatics, freshness, and structural elegance. In the winery, fruit was hand-harvested and gently fermented with careful extraction to preserve fragrance and texture. Maturation in French oak barrels, including a modest proportion of new oak, added subtle spice and savoury complexity while allowing the purity of fruit to shine.
The wine reveals lifted aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, layered with notes of white pepper, violet, dried herbs, olive tapenade, and gentle spice. The palate is medium-bodied and finely textured, balancing vibrant dark fruit with silky tannins and bright acidity.
