The 2024 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir is a benchmark expression of cool-climate winemaking from the Macedon Ranges. Planted in 1988, the Original Vineyard remains the heart of Bindi’s estate, producing wines of remarkable fragrance, energy, and longevity. The 2024 vintage continues the tradition of elegance and precision that has made this site one of Australia’s most revered for Pinot Noir.
Vineyard and Winemaking
The vines grow on ancient volcanic soils over clay and quartz at 500 metres elevation, yielding small crops of intensely flavoured fruit. Hand-harvested grapes were destemmed with a portion of whole bunches included to enhance perfume and structure. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in small open vats was followed by gentle pressing and maturation in French oak barriques (around 20% new) for ten months. The result is a wine of purity, tension, and seamless balance.
Tasting Notes
Perfumed aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal unfold with hints of spice, forest floor, and fine oak. The palate is vibrant yet poised, offering layers of red fruit, savoury herbs, and earthy complexity. Silky tannins and bright acidity carry the wine to a long, mineral-etched finish of precision and grace.
Style and Character
The 2024 vintage captures the essence of the Original Vineyard — lifted aromatics, supple texture, and lingering finesse. It unites purity and depth in equal measure, reflecting both place and the measured artistry of Michael Dhillon. A wine of quiet confidence and exceptional poise.
Cellaring and Pairing
Beautiful now for its youthful fragrance, it will mature gracefully for 10–15 years. Ideal with duck breast, roast quail, or wild mushroom risotto, highlighting its layered savoury depth.
