2024 Babich Wines Black Label Pinot Noir 750ml

Overview

Babich Black Label Pinot Noir is a warm, soft and food-friendly Marlborough Pinot Noir with delicately textured tannins, dark fruit and spice. Sweet cherry and raspberry characters are complemented by a touch of nutmeg, with good persistence and an elegant, balanced profile.

Winemaking

The Pinot Noir fruit was destemmed but not crushed, followed by a six to seven day pre-fermentation soak and a total of four weeks on skins. Fermentation took place in open-top vats, with 60% fermented using wild yeast and the balance inoculated. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation before spending eight months in barrel.

Producer Tasting Notes

Red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry conserve, touch of forest floor, cinnamon and cedar.

Fruit-driven, plums layered with cherry and cranberry echo from the nose. Earthy undertones, oyster mushroom, fine coating tannins and hints of dried herbs. Complex, balanced and elegant.
