Overview

Joseph Drouhin Meursault Premier Cru Perrières is a Chardonnay from one of Meursault's distinguished Premier Cru vineyards. The name “Perrières” refers to the site's stony soils, characterised by poor ground with outcrops of dry, chalky layers. The 2023 combines the generosity and texture associated with Meursault with freshness, precision and mineral depth.

Vineyard

Perrières lies within Meursault in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. The vineyard takes its name from its stony terrain, with poor soils and outcrops of dry, chalky layers.

Winemaking & Maturation

Pressing is carried out very slowly to respect the fruit, with juice from the final pressings excluded. No added yeasts or enzymes are used. Following débourbage, the wine goes directly into barrel and is aged for 12 months in French oak, of which 25% is new. Joseph Drouhin controls the weathering of its oak for three years and follows the wine barrel by barrel throughout maturation.

Producer Tasting Notes

Joseph Drouhin: “A complex and generous wine, with a rare elegance. The colour is extraordinarily luminous. On the nose, a palette of interesting and varied aromas: syrup, grilled almond, preserved fruit. In the mouth, a silky and ample texture which does not exclude freshness or lightness. Long on the palate, with flavours recalling grilled bread and fruit jam. Always a consummate example of a white Burgundy, this wine is perfection!”

Critic Reviews

94/100 — Tim Atkin MW

James Suckling
“Lots of honey, flowers and dried apples with crushed stones and a light graphite undertone. Medium-bodied with density, yet also freshness and depth. It really runs long with lovely fruit. It's like eating wonderful, perfectly ripe fruit. Drink or hold.”
