Overview
A refined old-vine Chambolle-Musigny from Domaine Lignier-Michelot, sourced from mature Pinot Noir vines on the northern side of the appellation. The 2023 Vieilles Vignes combines Chambolle’s aromatic finesse and freshness with the depth, structure and fine tannins derived from vines more than 60 years old.
Vineyard
The fruit comes from the Draseys and Gammaires parcels in the northern part of Chambolle-Musigny, close to the boundary with Morey-Saint-Denis. The vines are more than 60 years old, bringing additional concentration and depth while retaining the elegance associated with Chambolle-Musigny.
Winemaking
The 2023 cuvée was vinified with approximately 70–80% whole bunches. Domaine Lignier-Michelot places a strong emphasis on freshness and purity of fruit, with whole-cluster fermentation used to express the character of each terroir. The domaine generally matures its wines for 10 to 13 months in barrel, followed by approximately four months in stainless steel, with new oak kept below 30%.

91–92/100 — Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Producer
Domaine Lignier-Michelot is based in Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The Lignier family has cultivated vines in the village since the early 20th century, with estate bottling beginning in 1992. Today the domaine farms a little over eight hectares across Morey-Saint-Denis and neighbouring appellations including Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, together with Premier Cru and Grand Cru holdings.
The domaine focuses on freshness, purity and faithful expression of terroir. No pesticides or herbicides are used in the vineyards, yields are carefully controlled, and whole bunches play an important role in the contemporary winemaking approach. New oak is used with restraint to preserve balance, freshness and Pinot Noir aromatic complexity.
