Overview
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée is a highly sought-after village Burgundy from one of the most celebrated names in the Côte de Nuits. Although the domaine was formally founded in 2000, the Liger-Belair family has held vineyards in Vosne-Romanée since 1815, with La Romanée Grand Cru monopole standing as the estate's flagship.
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée is made from a blend of around a dozen lieux-dits across the appellation, bringing together fruit from the north-east, south-east and western hillside sectors of Vosne-Romanée.
Vineyard & Terroir
The cuvée comes from 0.7260 hectares across 11 Pinot Noir parcels. Around 40% of the fruit is sourced from the north-east of the appellation, including Les Violettes, Les Maizières and Les Chalandins; 40% from the south-east, including Les Jacquines and Au-dessus de la Rivière; and 20% from western hillside sites such as Les Damaudes, Les Barreaux and Les Hauts Beaux Monts.
The western parcels contain abundant Comblanchien limestone gravel and white oolitic limestone, contributing structure, mineral lift and aromatic precision.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The domaine has practiced biodynamic viticulture across its entire vineyard since 2008 and is certified by Ecocert under the Biodyvin label. Grapes are harvested into small 14kg perforated crates, sorted carefully on arrival, and destemmed fully or partially depending on the cuvée and vintage.
Fermentation begins naturally with indigenous yeasts after a cool pre-fermentation phase. The wine is aged in new barrels, with no fining or filtration before bottling.
