Good colour; the bouquet, while complex, is the calm before the storm of the palate, which strikes the second the wine enters the mouth, and doesn’t abate until long after the wine has gone from the glass. Great fusion of plum/black cherry fruit with a savoury carpet of spices and sweet earth.”

Farrside is one of By Farr’s defining Pinot Noir sites, grown in Geelong on a northeast-facing slope of black volcanic soil over limestone.

The vineyard’s east-west rows help protect the fruit from overexposure, while the mix of Pinot Noir clones 114, 115, 777, 667 and MV6 contributes detail, structure and savoury complexity.

The Farrside vineyard is planted on black volcanic soil over limestone. Fruit is hand-picked and sorted, then fermented with a portion of whole berries and matured for 18 months in 50-60% new Allier French oak barrels.
