Vineyard
The fruit for the Reserve Shiraz is sourced from low-yielding old vines rooted in McLaren Vale’s ancient terra rossa and clay soils. These vineyards, exposed to cooling sea breezes from the Gulf St Vincent, produce grapes of remarkable concentration and aromatic complexity. The wine was matured for 20 months in a selection of fine-grained French and American oak hogsheads, adding texture and depth while preserving regional character.
Vintage
The 2013 vintage was warm and dry, leading to small, intensely flavoured berries of exceptional ripeness. While yields were low, quality was outstanding, producing Shiraz of great density, balance, and ageing potential. This vintage stands among the best of the decade for McLaren Vale.
