Vineyard Notes

The Sangreal vineyard was planted in 1994 on a north-facing slope with soils of bluestone and limestone topped with red ironstone. The vine rows run north–south, producing more perfumed and elegant wines. Clones 114 and 115 have gradually evolved into the distinct “Sangreal clone.”

Winemaking

Made with 70% whole bunch and aged in 70% new oak. Fermented in a five-tonne oak barrel with an open-top fermenter after a four-day cold soak. Natural fermentation lasts seven to nine days before pressing. The wine is racked once after malolactic fermentation, sulphured, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Seductive, perfumed and seamless, displaying red fruits, whole bunch character, acidity and oak in an integrated expression of site and vintage.
