About This Wine
Barrel fermented and aged in oak, this Pinot Noir is produced without fining or filtration. The wine comes from the Premier Cru Aux Reignots vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, a site known for thin, limestone-rich soils, steep slopes and high proportions of angular Comblanchien gravel. The vineyard spans 0.7319 hectare, with vine ages ranging from 32 to 92 years and an average annual production of around 2,100 bottles.
About the Winery
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair was founded in 2000 by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, continuing more than 200 years of family heritage in Vosne-Romanée. The family has been connected to the village since 1815, with Louis Liger-Belair originally acquiring vineyards during post-Revolution land redistribution.
The domaine cultivates several parcels in Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, including the monopole La Romanée. Biodynamic viticulture is practiced across all vineyards. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted before partial or full destemming.
Fermentation begins naturally after a cold soak. Extraction is gentle, and pressing is carried out with a small vertical press. Wines are aged in new barrels from multiple coopers and forests, remaining in barrel without racking. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. Bottling takes place without fining or filtration.
Aux Reignots holds a close geographical relationship with La Romanée, sharing slope, geology and exposure. The soils are extremely shallow, rich in active limestone, and derived from ancient Comblanchien scree deposits. These conditions contribute to the vineyard’s density, tension and mineral character.
