About This Wine

This 1999 Disznókő Kapi Vineyard Aszú 6 Puttonyos is a single-vineyard Tokaji made from individually hand-picked botrytised grapes grown on the upper Kapi plot, where lighter clay and gravelly volcanic soils dominate.

The wine is produced using the traditional Tokaj method, with botrytised Aszú grapes added to a base wine from the previous vintage, triggering a second fermentation. The result is a richly concentrated dessert wine with exceptional ageing capacity, shaped by the vineyard’s favourable botrytis conditions of warm autumn days, cool nights and morning mists.

About the Producer

Disznókő is one of Tokaj’s historic estates, first recorded in land registries in 1413 and classified as a first growth in the original Tokaj classification of 1732. Since 1992, the estate has been owned by AXA Millésimes.

The vineyards sit on steep, south-facing slopes at the foot of the Tokaj escarpment, with clay soils over mineral-rich volcanic rock. Disznókő specialises in Tokaji Aszú wines alongside dry Furmint, combining traditional methods with a modern, gravity-fed winery.
