About This Wine
A personal expressionof a modern Chablisstyle chardonnay.
The fruit was whole bunch pressed, refrained from malo-lactic fermentation to retain full natural acidity, and used 15% new oak 100% French for the gentle complexity and refinement.
Tumbarumba's 2024 Chardonnay harvest thrived under a cool, consistent growing season with ample rainfall during spring, followed by warm, sunny days and cool nights, fostering balanced ripening and excellent fruit quality.
Tasting Notes
Nose: White stone fruit with a citrus whisper, light toast and nut showing through.
Palate: A true expression of a modern Chablis style chardonnay. Seamlessly integrated oak, a purity of fruit and a zing of delicate citrus acid.
About the Winery
Established in 2010, Mr Smith grew as a pseudonym for each of the different winemakers and friends that contribute to the wines we make. Our collaborations with various artisans are mostly a side-hustle for them, and as such we can't reveal their identity or brand affiliation. This anonymity allows us to be experimental, break new ground, be interesting and produce exceptionally good small batch wines that can be produced sustainably. And it allows us to reach the mid-price points, often far below the winemaker’s usual mark.
