Wafts of red roses, autumn leaves, incense and raspberry leaf. The palate is light with soft, silky tannins and cleansing acidity, and while you wouldn’t really call this complex, you would say it’s a lovely drink."

About This Wine

The Darshan vineyard is a tribute to Bindi founder Bill Darshan Singh Dhillon, who passed in early 2013. Vineyard preparations began a few months afterwards, with planting taking place in 2014.

Darshan faces west on quartz-riddled soils similar to the Original Vineyard. It is planted at 11,300 vines per hectare, with 20% of the vines in a Crazy section at 22,600 vines per hectare featuring four clones.

Darshan, like Original Vineyard, is about perfume and finesse, whereas Block 8 and Block 5 share fruit depth and structure in common. Production typically varies from 100-150 dozen per vintage.

Producer Notes

The 2023 Darshan immediately displays the perfume and purity of the site. Red roses waft into cranberry and red currant, then into rhubarb before the close planted, miniscule cropping hallmarks of spice and earth appear. Here it takes four vines to produce one bottle. The palate is energetic and intense, tight and driven. Superfine, silky tannins work with the creamy supple fruit to drive a detailed, filigree finish. This wine will improve over five years and hold for five plus beyond that.

About the Producer

Bindi farms vines and manages the land of Ningulabul's Gunung Willam Balluk.
