Today, I prefer the ’23 of this over the ’24. Tomorrow, who knows? This has morphed into a wine of restraint, perhaps delicacy, yet there’s a certain power and definition, too. The tannins are refined, the palate elegant and the finish long. A delight to drink now and for quite a few years hence."

95/100 — Huon Hooke, The Real Review · 2023 Vintage · 11 February 2025 · Drinking Window: 2026-2037
"Medium-full red with a good tint of purple; the bouquet is reticent at first while soft sweet, darker cherry flavours run through the finely textured and balanced palate. The tannins are firmer than most Bindi pinots and the wine has a more blocky structure, relatively speaking. Good depth of flavour and fine balance. Seems less complex at this early stage, so more time is recommended."

About This Wine

The 2023 Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir is a Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir from Victoria, Australia.

Block 8 is one of Bindi's small-volume estate-grown Pinot Noir releases, from vines grown in a mix of ancient stony Ordovician soils and younger volcanic soil.

Producer Notes

The 2023 Block 8 begins with sweet fruits; red and dark cherry and red plum. Rhubarb and undergrowth appear with creaminess and brown spices adding additional complexity. Darshan like low cropping levels provide for a palate that is full to begin, creamy, silky, seamless in tannin flow, very long and structured. The emphatic and deliciously satisfying palate rolls on and on. It will improve for seven years and hold for that time again at the least.

About the Producer

Bindi farms vines and manages the land of Ningulabul's Gunung Willam Balluk.
